Aircraft arrival and The Gathering

Friday 5th February 2027 (Waitangi Weekend)

Our celebrations begin with The Gathering at the historic ex-Union Airways Hangar (now the OAC hangar), a chance to meet old friends and make new ones. As everyone arrives, we will take time to settle in, get comfortable, and begin connecting with those around us.

Hosted by the Otago Aero Club, The Gathering is a private event for for those registered for the Centennial weekend, Sponsors, invited guests and attending aircraft owners and their crews only. Please register at the links on this page.

Casual dress, light music, seating and leaners available.

This event is for visiting aircraft owners and Otago Aeroclub Alumni only, with a modest ticket price to help offset costs. Registration is essential with tickets available via the button at the bottom of this page.

Public Open Day

The next day, we share our love of aviation and Taieri Airfield with our community with an Open Day, showcasing the aero club, the airfield and the aircraft over the last 100 years.

With static displays, formation fly pasts, and the chance to fly in aircraft old and new alike, aviation will be at the heart of our celebration - but there will also be plenty of other sights and sounds! A classic English Car display, a fashion show across the century, live music, boutique stalls, bouncy castles, and of course, plenty of food and drink for a great family day out.

Tickets will be on sale at the gate at $5 per person and $20 per family. EFTPOS and cash sales available. Proceeds from this public event will go directly towards the OAC100 Centennial projects.

This is a family friendly day, and alcohol will not be permitted on the airfield. As an operational airfield, smoklng and vaping are strongly discouraged.

Gala Dinner

Saturday 6th February 2027 (Waitangi Weekend)

On Saturday evening after the Open Day, the official celebration event begins - the OAC Centennial Gala Dinner.

With a special guest speaker, assorted celebrations throughout the evening and a silent auction, proceeds from this ticketed event will go directly towards the OAC100 Centennial Projects.

Mosgiel, Taieri Bowling Club.

6pm - midnight.

When:

Complimentary champagne or beer on arrival, complimentary wine on table. Cash bar with non-alcholic drinks available, three course buffet style meal

Formal dress (period attire encouraged), MC, Guest Speaker (to be announced), live music, DJ and dancing.

South Otago Aero Club Flyaway

Sunday 7th February 2027 (Waitangi Weekend)

On Sunday morning, there will be a flyaway to South Otago Aero Club at Balclutha Airfield (NZBA).

The South Otago Aero Club was initially an affiliate of the Otago Aero Club, and will host a BBQ lunch in recognition of that long association.
