Come and celebrate 100 years of aviation with New Zealand’s first aero club.

The Otago Aero Club, New Zealand’s first established aero club, founded on the 21st of January 1927, will mark its 100-year anniversary in February 2027 with a spectacular three-day aviation celebration at Taieri Aerodrome, Mosgiel.

The centennial celebrations will be held on the 5th, 6th and 7th of February 2027 (Waitangi  Weekend) and will feature vintage, homebuilt, classic, and military aircraft at a Public Open Day, providing rare opportunities for the public to view and fly in historic aircraft.

A ticketed Gala Dinner will be held on Saturday evening, and a fly-away to South Otago Aero Club in Balclutha will follow on Sunday.

Our centennial projects include the restoration to flight of the famous Cessna 150 ZK-CGI and the establishment of an aviation scholarship programme for young adults who show a keen interest and wish to pursue a career in aviation, but would otherwise be precluded from achieving that objective.

Your financial support of these projects could be the start of a deserving persons career in aviation!
